Sometimes a prospective employer also checks credit history to determine the financial creditability (credit worthiness) of a candidate.
A prospective employer will unlikely be willing to provide you with a copy of the background report since some of the information obtained from the process is strictly confidential to the company and the persons/companies who have given the references. Any persons or formal employers may wish to avoid any potential legal liabilities by requesting the information be treated confidential if negative references were provided to your prospective employer (just in case being sued preventing an individual from fair employment).
