I bet you are not in business school. It is very hard to get into "top 10" if you don't have shining background.
As for PH.d, those so-so schools are still hard to get in. Compared to departments (CS, engineer), the admission of ph.d in B-school is very limited.

Where did you get this idea? Besides those "top schools", there are a lot of teaching schools in u.s, which are way different from community colleges.
对于MBA的话，top5都是大批量生产的，每年每个学校都会有几百个新生，其中中国人也不占少数，保守一点至少10个，我是指直接从国内来的。

不论PhD还是MBA，不是名校的，工作很难找，除非本身就是公司资助，毕业后回到原来公司。我们学校的MBA排名虽有20,但是就业情况还是一塌糊涂，中国人全部待业，去年毕业的都回了国。即使是美国人也只有少数拿到60k左右的年薪。60K是什么概念，我们学校engineering school硕士毕业平均薪水就超过了60k。MBA薪水那么低，就是因为供大于求。
算一下，前10名学校，每个毕业200人，就是2000人，2000个职位，对于MBA的market来说太多了，当然我是指具一定规模的公司。算到500强的话，要每个公司都有4个空缺才够用。可能吗？所以说对于二流的学校，根本没有什么机会。
That's true. For tier 2 school graduates, it's hard to get into Fortune 500. But if you want to teach in harvard b-school or work in some "famous" companies, you are not at the same level with me. And I think, it is beyond most chinese students' expectation.
