那就是说juniper和juniper berry只有等级的区别，其实应该算同一种东东。。。谢谢dilbert版版

赫赫，又查了些资料，发现了一个很详细的网站，里面提到：

大意基本上是说 质量上、治疗上“Juniper berry
oil”都要比 “juniper oil好。

“Two types of essential oil are distilled from this shrub. Juniper berry
oil is the better quality and the one recommended for therapeutic use;
distilled from the ripe berries that have been picked straight from the
bush and dried. A cheaper and less effective alternative is juniper oil
which includes the berries, leaves and branches.



Occasionally
a poorer- quality juniper oil is produced by adding berries that have
been partially distilled in the making of Gin. Both types are
sometimes, mistakenly, sold under the name of 'Juniper Berry Oil'. ”



同时也提到了高剂量juniper oil对肾脏的不良影响

“Contra Indications: Juniper
is an abortifacient and so must not be used during pregnancy. High
doses of juniper causes kidney irritation and possible kidney damage,
so therefore, should not be used by anyone with kidney infection or a
history of kidney impairment.”



而 Juniper berry 的则可以作利尿，通便辅助 （没提对肾脏的影响），因为气味柔和，还常用作芳香成分。

“Other uses: The berries
and extracts are used in diuretic and laxative preparations, also
veterinary preventatives of ticks and fleas. It is used as a fragrance
component of soaps, detergents, cosmetics and perfumes, especially
spicy fragrances and aftershaves.”

这和 quinessence.com 上的描述也是吻合的

“Juniper oil is also extracted from
the leaves, twigs and needles and is less costly than oil produced from
the berry. However, its fragrance is more pine-like and the therapeutic
properties are not as extensive.”
