Finance是最赚钱的领域么

最近几年是不错，不过有朋友工作时间长的说IT boom的那几年他们反而不太好。不好的时候是什么样子的呢？

总觉得天下没有免费的午餐，身边不少不同领域background, 学校也中等的master进了JS等公司，有的做FA, 有的做quant，现在收入似乎也可以。入门门槛也不算高，有个phd进去更不太难了。在网上听别人说什么几年几年之后，几十几十万，甚至百万都进了口袋。唉，想想其他的专业，就算医生，lawyer这些professional, 读那么多年花那么多钱，最后也没人家挣的多，还累的和什么似的。

不过我自己倒是踏实一人，最讨厌跟风。所以看着周围的人是个人都想转fianance, 想想这也不太符合客观规律，就有了疑惑了。

嗯,就业形势很难说滴,关键还是要看自己的兴趣,不要盲目跟风,坚持自己的方向.是人才,总有用武之地的.

这个是少数情况。大多数比大多数别的行业好些，但如果没有很好的运气，或者非常的努力，也不会几年以后就几十上百万。

医生，律师也是收入很好的职业。但是也是非常辛苦，尤其是开始几年。

读finance也不是那么容易找几十甚至几百万工作的。首先要读很名的名牌大学，而且还有很高的学历，还要有很好的人际关系，能说会道，有礼貌。。。我想缺一不易啊。

I don't know the exact amount. But for master with no experience, it
seems 90k - 100k is reasonable in the street. They didn't tell me
whether it is plus bonus or not. I would assume this is base salary.

I dont think master students would have such a high starting salary even if in New York. However, if this includes bonus, it would be reasonable. It is really hard for finance master students from lower tier schools to work for W street. People there are snobbish. They care about pedigree and only recruit from top schools.

A graduate degree in finance does not necessarily guarantee a high starting salary. Even if you have a CFA designation with years of experience, the median salary is probably still around $150K – 220K (adjusted for inflation based on statistics from a survey conducted three years ago.

In a salary survey conducted in 2003, the CFA Institute found that:

The median yearly total compensation (including salary, bonuses and non-compensation) of investment management professionals is $130,500.
The median compensation of investment management professionals with at least 10 years of experience was approximately $190,000.
Investment professionals who hold a CFA charter and have more than 10 years experience earn an average of 21 percent more than non-charter holders with similar experience.
Investment management professionals employed by mutual fund organizations typically earn 20% more than the median.

this year, top law firms provide fresh JD graduates starting salary from $148,000. Of course, you need to be top 5% of your class to get into big law firm.

其实每个行业都有自己辛苦的地方. Finance形势好的时候是不错，但工作不如律师和医生来得稳定．一旦经济形势不好便会大量裁员．所以选择行业最重要的还是要自己喜欢，适合自己．
