特pf 版上的JJMM，觉得都很有主见很能干，有个问题求助——

我现在有2个选择，都是SOSO还可以的学校，一个PhD program 一个MS

给的钱查不多，location差不多

说实话我对专业不敢兴趣，background也不怎么样

估计去了PhD日子会不好过（不confident能不能熬出个头阿，听了那么多恐怖的先例）MS么应该可以搞定

所以现在不从兴趣出发，纯粹为了找工作

我的问题是：

首先硕士找工作是不是很难，发展空间比博士小很多？我的专业是分析化学

第二是不是博士的起薪比ＭＳ高很多，那和ＭＳ有了３、４年的工作经验比呢？

我现在脑子很乱，去PhD吧又怕熬不下去熬不出头，去MS吧又怕找不到工作或者到时候想读PhD了又后悔

所以发在这个版，想听听已经工作的姐妹们的意见~

分析化学是很好找工作的，不管博士还是硕士。不过硕士的发展空间确实比博士小很多，就算有了几年工作经验，工资也绝对赶不上博士的。不过工作轻松，压力小。如果确实不喜欢读博士，在学校的几年会很不好过，还是想清楚自己的个性和长短处再作决定。

I feel ph.d has less positions than MS and you will work ~3 years later, while ph.d may make more than MS.

Does that MS program have a chance to transfer into Ph.D. program later on? If so, it seems a better choice. You could get a master first and then try to find a job or feel about ph.d. With a master in hand, you could also quit ph.d. for a job anytime you don't want to continue it.

If you don't like the major and endless studying, go for the master.

IMHO, there are much more analytical positions for MS than Ph.D. Usually in industry, a senior Ph.D. leads several junior staffs. (BS/MS). Fresh Ph.D. is just in the middle.

PhD is not a relax career path for mm, and the choice for PhD is also narrower.

If you like research, go for it and may have a chance for higher salary and better position. If you want to enjoy life, get a MS and a simple job.
