我就是学税的，刚入门的小白，而且学校里学的都是理论。今年刚开始在家小firm做intern，主要做个税，发现很多老美家庭工资不高，或者一般，但是donation很多，而且在sch A里把各种medical expense，property tax, interest, dmv都算上, 竟然都比stanard deduction高。也有不少人有自己的小公司，或者有一两套投资房的，我还心想他们怎么expense比income还高。看来是我们par帮他们做过避税指导了？顿时觉得要学的还很多啊！纸上得来终觉浅！！

Donation这些也要自己出钱的啊。还是出的比省得多

Sales tax 和州税好像只能选一个减，对于要交州税的州一般还是选州税划算。 投资房depreciation也要谨慎。卖房子后还是要交盈利税的，比如说20万的房子10年都用了depreciaion，10年后卖了25万，5万加depreciated的部分要交税。好像是这样，我也不是很清楚细节，抛砖引玉一下。。

我们家今年装个新房顶，过了什么engergy star指标的，就可以退点税。
所以这种大投入不要一年投入，每年投一点，这样每年都可以把那点税要回来。。。

这个是一辈子有个限额的。就500好像

不是指在买的投资房里办公。
楼主开了公司，在家里有个房间是用做business used home office. 是报在 form 8829上。 家里所有的水电煤气垃圾费，lawn care，房屋维护等等，地税，房贷利息，这些费用，可以按这个房间面积除以整个house的面积的百分比来算开销，可以抵消一部分business income。 本来这些utility开销是个人消费，现在一部分能来deductible to offset income，当然好啦。地税，房贷利息剩下的% 还可以用来take itemized deduction。

这个叫energy saving credit。黑体的那些是我们家搞过或者准备搞的。其他的不适用我们家。。。
我说的家电指的是water heater, furnace那些的。。。可能这个也算improvement？
总之这些大项目应该匀开了做，甚至比如门窗吧，可以每年换几个，另外有个sheet可以计算多年的，我还没研究过。
总之过了limit太多就亏了。每年是500刀。
