My tips for Big4er:

1. Don't treat the company as your home or family. Remember business is business. Nobody will fight for you when you get fired.

2. When job is done, send an orderly email to list what you have completed and what are ready for review.

3. Always save emails that you repliy to boss. Sometimes they just forget or seem to forget what you've done, especially when their boss find errors and ask them to explain. You did nothing, then you are guilty.

4. Seniors In Charge should know how to "book" managers' time. They can be too busy or too messy that they don't remember to review your job until last minute, when YOU are undoubtedly the one to blame.  So when you are still at feild, be sure to report issues to manager in time and fix a day to go through and finalise issues one by one with him. Tell him your job will be ready for review on, say Thursday, and you will expect his queiries. Remind him again on Thursday. Do it by email, so you have evidence. If no reply, call him. Boss will never get angry about this booking of their time, because they wanna be assured that the job is reviewed and need not to panick at the last minute.  This advice was given to me by a senior manager himself, and I find it really helpful.

5. Protect yourself and know how to say no, especially when boss goes too far.
