不知道你说的不住市里，是指不住曼哈顿吗？我觉得QUEENS 的 FORESTHILLS挺好的， 这儿的公立小学不错。PS196， PS101， PS144 都满好的。

If you want to save city tax and you have a car, move to Wetchester(not sure whether you can do local chinese grocery shopping) or Great Neck(this is much close to chinatown or chinese stores).

If you do not mind to pay city tax and you have a car, move to North Flushing, little neck, bayside, or Douglaston (easy to find parking and you can take LIRR)  If you do not have a car, Forest Hills is a good choice and you take the subway.  Forest Hills is not too far to go to Chinatown, Elmhurst.
