No. What your doctor is doing is to simulate our bodies normal cycle. Estrogen stimulates endometrium thickening, makes it better for pregnancy, naturally, your body will begin producing progesterone at day 15, to make the final change to support embryo implantation. Birth control pills can contain both, but different combination and dosing have different effects. So, trust your doctor.

Higher level of estrogen promotes ovulation. you should discuss your concerns about progesterone and ovulation with your OB. I believe ideally you want to begin progesterone after ovulation. But I may be incorrect.
