single income or double incomes? any kid?

I would say 81K+benefits is not very high, but is not too low either. You can have a decent life even with single income. It's just you can't expect to buy a house in the next few years if you don't have any other income or savings.

以下是引用waitandsee在2006-6-9 15:46:00的发言:

So the salary is about the average? How much total family income do I need to afford a medium-price single house? How important is the degree to my salary? I am not sure wehther I should pursue a more advanced degree...

I would say 200K pre-tax household income if you don't want to be overstretching, consider the medium-price single house price range is over 750K, in some good locations it can be even higher.
