Suggest you to borrow a Longly Planet travel guide from the lib. My favorites are:
Piano bar and cocktail "Hurrican" at the club named "Pat O'Brian's". They have a nice garden with flaming fountain.
Dixie beer, the darker one.
Lunch buffet with live jazz music at "The court of the two sisters"

French quarter has tons of bars. The entire Burbon street is a party in the night.
Riverside mall is nice.

Don't know about Chinese store. Have fun there!
