I know nothing about Finance and modeling. But, if you already have the equivalent academice foundation, how you know you can not apply what you already know to another scenario?
You problem is not that you have no confidence, but it's because you don't know what you want...
Sorry for being straightforward... It's also very true that you would never know what you want if you don't try.
