Here is the list based on my experience:

#1 Be confident, which means know what you want and know your strength

#2 Be patient and be proactive. Everything takes time. If you truely know what you want, you will get it enventually.

I don't have #3. I think all other things are parralle to each other, including degree, personality, English skills, etc.
