My humble advice would be to keep in mind your system will also be built on your lenses... You need to decide which company has/will come up with better products in the future...because once you take the plunge, it'll be very very expensive to switch to a different company later consider you need to sell all your bodies/lenses...

wide-angle lens is mainly for landscape/scenery

telephoto lens is for shooting birds/events (concerts, sports) because you cannot get too close to reach your subjects...it can also be used for portraits...
