I got an opportunity of a position in a non-for-profit organization. I am currently working for a big corporation and am very happy what I am doing and also who I am working with. However, the new position in the non-for-profit organization looks very attractive and it's 100% matches to what I am doing now. Most of all, the pay they offer is very appealing, about 20k more than my base salary now. My current career plan is looking for stability, since I will start a famliy soon and planning for having kids next year.
Indeed, my boss introduced this position to me. I want to think about this very clearly before I can ask him to forward my resume to the recruiter. So here is my dilema and I appreciate your suggestions.
- What the disadvantage of working for non-for profit? like ong-term career development, etc
- Can a non-for-profit have a bonus program? In my current company, the bonus is about 5-10% each year.
- Does non-for-profit have 401k matching?
- what are the benefits of working for non-for-profit?
Many thanks
I work for a non-profit organization. We do have bonuses, but I also heard we may cancel this program next year. It is decided by committee. We also have 401K matching, actually the matching is pretty attractive. Basically I feel benefits are the same as other places, if not better, but it really depends that organization. We don't have ESPP plan though. Normally salary for non-profit is lower, but it depends, for example, your case . I also heard from my friend who works for another non-proft in another big city, they pay her $80/hour. She hasn't graduated yet, so just work as contract. I was really surprised how much a non-profit can offer
.
