有一个问题我一直挺困惑的. 如果商店或者餐厅的名字里只有一个词,为什么有时词尾加s, (such as macys, bloomingdales, staples, borders), 有时加表所有格的's (such as McDonald's, papa john's), 还有的时候什么都不加(such as costco, JCPenny). 这些有什么规律吗? 第二种情况可能是因为商店的名字是人的姓吧.其他的我就想不明白了.

以前我经常说 i am going to bloomingdale, or i am going to macy, without even noticing the difference. 后来在网上买东西时,才注意到原来www.macy.com和 www.macys.com是不一样的. 欢迎大家积极讨论.

哦那是我搞错了, MACY'S 不是MACYS. 我只是觉得BLOOMINGDALE也是一个人的名字吗?

IMHO, stores like Macy's, McDonld's use the funder's name as the store's name, so it carries 's to inidicate that. Cosco is just a general name, and does not belong to this category, so it does not need 's.
