here's her life in a nutshell: a beauty with ambition and head. she's a successful business woman, social climber and beautician.

I was writing a short biography of her for a Chinese magazine last month and read several biography books on her. seems like her biographers didn't like her much. comparing with the tribute to C. Z. Guest in Vogue early this year, this NYTimes article doesn't give her much eulogy upon her death.

Obviously her taste in fashion did improve a lot over time. I saw several pictures of her with Duchess Windsor and C. Z. Guest. Man, she looked terribly tasteless besides these gorgeous women. (even with Duchess Windsor, who was much older than her.)

But she's a great business woman beyong doubts.

I was sorry and angry to see my own writing edited to read like that. :-( Would not write anything for the magazine any more. after all, it's a stupid magazine.
