In men, they may be found on the tip or shaft of the penis, the scrotum or the anus. They can also develop in the mouth or throat of a person who has had oral sex with an infected person. Genital warts are a symptom of HPV HPV can go away (with treatment or on its own) and then reoccur in the future. In other words, it may be treated, but not cured.

Now hpv is a little more complicated because you can have hpv but be ok and not have any complications what so ever.

Approximately 10 of the 30 identified genital HPV types can lead, in rare cases, to development of cervical cancer only a small proportion of women have persistent infection, persistent infection with "high-risk" types of HPV is the main risk factor for cervical cancer.
