I am writing to express my concerns about [NAME]. I recently worked with her on the same project, and a number of her unprofessional behaviors are really of concern. These behaviors manifested themselves whenever there was challenge to a design decision or when there was a difference of opinion regarding the scope or characteristics of a design.
During the project, decisions were usually approved by the team as a whole. It was not uncommon for a decision to be challenged and revisited. Sometimes, miscommunication between designer and development teams created different expectations of scope and schedule, etc. This type of expectation mismatch could have easily been resolved by communication, comprise and rescheduling. However, whenever I was involved with a decision under consideration or a difference of opinion, [NAME] consistently refused to engage me directly. Rather, she assigned me blame behind my back and became unprofessionally emotional and uncomposed.
On one occasion, when I had taken over a feature design from another colleague because of a scope/design mismatch. The problem had arisen as a result of a miscommunication between the original design owner and the current development team. As the former owner and I explained the situation to [NAME], she became irate, and went on to loudly abuse me verbally—And this took place in front of colleagues! I have never before been subjected to this kind of attack, and needless to say, it was disturbing not only for me but for everyone who was subjected to it.
This has become a repeated pattern of behavior, and given her refusal to interact professionally on a one-on-one basis, I am at a loss for how to proceed from here. I am hoping for a satisfactory solution for all parties.
