What I know is it is NOT easy to get a job with a mechnical Engineering Master Degree in U.S.A.  One of Chinese my co-workers is working now as a computer programmer. He actually graduated with a MS degree in ME field from a well-known Univ. , with very good English.

You need to think more about this before you make the decision. I think we have a lot of choices in U.S.A although it could be very hard to get a job without GC/Working experience. But we can always change the career later on in the life. So if your priority is to get  a job to support the family, try to study something that will probably grant you a job in the future. If you are married and your hubby has a comfortable stable income, you can choose something you  like. That's what I am doing now.  I feel I am kind of tired of my job after 3 years working. I am taking part-time class and my employer pays 50% of my tuition bills. I am thinking of getting a MS degree in 3-4 years. In the time period, we will be waiting for the GC and potential a new family member.

要不去monster查一下，看看要哪个专业的人多些？

我其实觉得：要那个专业的多时一个问题。有多少人在market 上面竞争这个位置也很重要。

chem eng不好吗?我有听说同学是这个phd毕业,8-9w一年的样子,还不错阿

我只知道分析化学是化学里面最好找工作的。

如果读了分析化学，一定要学和MS, LC, GC 都有关的。就看尽在要bioanalysis得人了。不要偏研究仪器，要偏样品分析

faye mm. popular majors would include acct., stat., finance, computational finance, financial engineering, biostatistics.....etc. only my two cents. and again, I am not very familiar with majors related to chemistry.
