If you graduated from a decent school and have a engineering Ph.D degree, you can directly find a quant job, no need to study quantitative finance. It just wastes your time and money.

去年engineering ph.d 毕业，ph.d期间做的research比较冷僻，到现在也没找到工作。想下半年回学校念master of quantitative finance. LD挺支持我的。念了十几年的工科，终于有机会可以向自己喜欢的方向发展了，心中还是很期待的。但是各方面反馈来的信息，都说finance不办身份，不好找工作，让我很是郁闷。想问问这里学quant. finance的姐妹，真的很难吗？

My hubby is a quant. There are a lot of opportunities in wall street for quants. A ph.d in math, physics probably will get you a better start but since you have a engineering Ph.D., at least that shows you have good reserach ability. Master may start with lower salary but if you like the finance industry and are willing to put in your efforts, nothing is impossible.

There really isn't special constraints on PR or H1 for fianance industry though so don't worry about that.

工科背景可以直接找QUANT FIN的工作，不用专门读一个。WALL STREET 都是牛校工科毕业的在做BROKER。

我能理解LZ的困惑，请教各位有经验的大侠，如果不是牛校的Ph.D(学校排名50左右的样子），又没有一点finance背景，是不是去街上做quant会比较困难？所以去一个好一点的学校读一个MFE应该会给自己增加一点筹码吧？

这个也是我现在关心的，我和楼主一样，不同的就是没有LG可以gap一下身份。

很向往MFE方向试试看，但是好像MFE都很不容易申请奖学金。有没有其它方面的建议？虽然我也认为从engineering往MFE是最容易靠的……

本人是FE毕业的，99% 的可能性是没奖的，所以基本上是没什么指望的。不过你要是能拿到berkley 这样的admission,我觉得是值得读一读的，一年就毕业，时间上不太浪费，但学费比较高，大概5-6 万吧，不果毕业都能找到工作，尤其现在经济这么好，那个十万起薪是比较保守的估计。而且bonus也很多。另外，for phd not from a top school, it is hard to find a quant job(honestly) unless you have something special, as far as i know it is very competitive.

我想，即使相同专业，不同人找到工作的几率差距也是很大的

那么起码对偶来说，直接找quan之类的工作是不成了，数学拼不过math的，编程拼不过CS的 [em03]

那么MBA或者其它经济类有没有EE比较容易接手的方向？工作不好找啊～后悔没有学硬件……
