Stressful Morning

My team manager likes to begin working very early in the morning and sometimes he begins are 6am. And he likes to push me to begin from 8am. However, I live 45 minutes away without traffic

This morning, he scheduled a client call at 8:30am. I tried my best to come, but the highway was blocked because of the snow storm - so I missed it.

When I came, >60% of our office is empty. But when I checked in with him, he gave me an ugly face

I'll die if I have to come every morning at 8am!!!

2 choices:

accept it or quit your job.

It's useless to complain here.

I'm sorry.

He knows everything. And as a consulting firm, we have flexible hours. I usually come in office between 8:30 and 9. But he always jokes with me and says that I come in at 10am. I don't like that joke. And I can feel that he is trying to push me to come earlier.

I work pretty well with other managers. However, we switch projects all the time. This one is tough in this meaning. Come on, he has a housewife helping him!

It is tough, but I agree.

You are paid to work.

I am sorry too.

But what can I do with the snow storm? The police blocked the highway. I'm not paid to clear the highway...

All he needs to do is to schedule a flexible conference call number, in stead of having the client call his office all the time...

Or let's get a helicopter.

Whatever, I'm not the only one who were late.

I felt really sorry for you! The first thing you should do is to communicate with him, see whether you two can find a workable schedule. If he is stubborn and unwilling to compromise, you might check how much you can compromise. If it is impossible or too hard to reach an agreement, you should think about changing your job, because you won't be happy in this job and he isn't a wise boss to work for. At least give it a try. For future job, be sure to check with the boss how tolerant he could be with versatility. We spend so much time on work and we deserve to be happy.

Actually my boss is exacly opposite. He is late and likes to give me projects very late of the day. At the beginning I felt unwilling to acommodate him by coming late and leaving late. Now comparing with you, I felt lucky.
