Should I speak English in office, or Chinese with my friend??? She insists speaking Chinese, but I think it's impolite. What should I do?

为什么你不能和她说中文呢？很多中国人大概都觉得自己人之间说自己的语言要自然些。

(可能我没完全懂你的意思？)

I guess lz mm means that it is not so polite to speak native language when in front of other foreigners.

It will be better if lz mm can talk openly with your friend about your concern or feeling about the job and relationship. No matter what, your friend did do a good job to refer to your current position.In this meaning, she is a nice person at least.

如果是比较严格的环境，你可以跟你朋友好好解释。表达你的concern。

不过你朋友待的时间比你长，她如果觉得没关系，大概关系不大的。如果你实在觉得uncomfortable，那就不说好了。反正你选是上班彻底不跟朋友说话比较uncomfortable还是跟她说中文比较uncomfortable。

There are lots of international employees in my company. My previous officemate is from South America and he would speak Spanish with other Latino. I learned a few Spanish words from him. Another American guy married a Chinese and he likes to speaking Chinese to me.

I guess it depends on your company culture. Bottom line is that you don't have to be too sensitive to your native language. Of course I wouldn't engage in lengthy conversations in Chinese or do it all the time.

如果只有你们两个人，说说中文无妨

但是如果有其他不说中文的人在场，还是说英文把

这个我同意。如果办公室里面只有你们两个人，我觉得说中文也没什么。

不过如果有不懂中文的人在场，还是说英文比较礼貌一些。

哈哈，你老公有点奇怪啊。感觉有点过了把。

我们公司有个senior的architect，娶的是台湾人。

还整天跑过来和我说说中文呢。

并且我们公司有习惯说法语的法裔和说英语的另外一部分人。

习惯说法语的他们之间讨论工作上的事情还有聊天啊，也是喜欢用法语。虽然公司的主流是说英语。

但是即使我们听不懂。我们也觉得没所谓。

我觉得设计公司的人，个性都比较自由随和的，好像我们公司不care我们之间用什么语言说什么。

我有个同事说西班牙语，我每天都听到他在用西班牙语打电话。一天8个小时，估计有4个小时他都在说西班牙语。

听说以前还有一个说西班牙语的，他们2个就直接用母语对话

不过我倒是不大敢在同事面前说中文
