Yeah. It's old. But in Shanghai, you just can't "enjoy" the new subway: it's always so jam packed. People are not treated nicely.

这写的有点偏了，就说地铁把，虽然上海地铁新，但是人多阿，每天都挤死人了

说情调，那个陕西路根5th根本没有异同点

写这种东西的人，心理严重不平衡

我觉得纽约是脏、乱、差的典型。还是三番漂亮。要说吃喝玩乐当然上海好，可是要说自由惬意，我觉得这里的SURBURBAN是很好的选择。那么多国家公园，想去开车就去了。不用担心到哪里都挤来挤去，不用担心路上的车匪路霸。

这个，虽然我是上海人，我还是觉得上海和纽约比还是差蛮多的……拿上海的city life和这里的农村比，我更喜欢city life,但是如果有机会可以去NYC等这样的大城市，我还是愿意呆在美国，毕竟有很多制度啊，人的素质啊还是这里强一点，实话实说啊。

不过呢，想念还是想念的，尤其是吃的……

我同学买了房子之后连孩子都不敢生，怕养不起。sigh，好歹他们两口子也算得上白领了，一个IT一个做金融。

这个纽约也一样啊。而且纽约地铁的确是太太太太太脏了。

不过我也觉得作者看问题比较浅。。虽然上海永远是我的最爱，no matter what

我觉得区三番度假可以，常住还是不如纽约好玩。纽约更方便些。我最不喜欢的其实只是三番的建筑。很新的一个城市，没有那种老建筑，总觉得缺了些什么。纽约有老建筑，也有红砖房的欧洲式街道，感觉尺度很亲切。原来不怎么喜欢纽约，后来逐渐熟悉了，发现不同的区域有不同的味道，就越来越喜欢：）

郊区农村说什么我也住不了。。。这辈子就打算在城市里面混了 [em02] 没准时年之后带着我家zhu tou杀回北京 [em02]

I love NYC too. It's so vibrant. It's full of life. If you have to compare NYC with Shanghai, the latter lacks "culture and history" and that's why Shanghai doesn't have its characters. That's why I don't think living in Shanghai for a long time is good because it sank you and makes you a perfect material person.

Stay in Manhattan and don't go to the other boroughs and you won't complain so much. Don't take subway. Take cabs. NYC cabs are inexpensive. But living a good life in NYC means a lot of money.

Everything and everyone in China is so one-dimensional. You have to conform to whatever is most popular at the time and to whatever everyone else is doing. Whereas in US you can choose to live whatever lifestyle you like. You can be eclectic. You can be off mainstream. You have the freedom and the room.

你这句我同意，在美国你想怎么过就怎么过。所以我和老公说，既然要在美国呆下来我就要过美国式的生活-------我要做一个快乐的家庭主妇，这个梦想在中国是怎么都不可能实现的，家里人也不让，朋友们很多在职场上的成就对我很多激励，我不会甘心做一个全职太太的。可是这里，我觉得我的天地很小，工作上怎么做都做不过美国人好，好象总觉得在混口饭吃的样子。

可能这个MM一定工作和学习和生活都过得不错了，所以才会有这些感觉，我还是觉得我在国内的生活过得好。

我现在好消极啊!!!!我身边有几个博士们，他们国内都是大医院的开刀医生，现在都很想做个邮递员。其实邮递员这工作也挺好的，把信送全了，一天工作就完成了，就等着回家和宝宝玩喽。

why it's so much negative about china

i don't think people in china is so one-dimensional, there are many oppporitunities, and you can achvie the level you cannot achieve here

and compare to nyc, how long history shanghai has, and how long nyc has

i love nyc but i believe shanghai and beijing would improve better and better and catch up with nyc

前几天看DVD“青红”，就是说当年知识青年响应国家号招到贵州这些地方插队落户，后来又想着法儿要回上海家去。突然有种感觉，怎么觉得现在也有象当时的知青一样呢，真的觉得自已现在是洋插队。人在美国心在家乡，而且非常关心上海的很多事。我怎么就不能融到美国社会里面呢？总觉得自已和美国人不是一种人。说话怎么都说不到美国人的溜。沙拉和土豆泥怎么的都只能吃两口，就觉得不想再吃了(陂萨除外 [em08] [em08] )。和美国人聊天说着说着就没话题了，只能傻傻地应付着笑。

可是老公不想回 [em05] 。 [em03] [em03] [em03]

哎，跟我差不多。我家猪头是坚决不回去的。。不过其实如果我是他我也不会回去。但是我蛮想回去的，至少一直在犹豫。就是回去的话这里这么多deal抢不到了 [em08]

we actually take subway, and we don't mind. All people living in Manhattan take subway to work, and people are quite used to it:) it's not that bad actually.

NYC is not as expensive as people might think. The only thing more expensive is housing and tax. You'll be fine if you don't have to BUY a place, and tax only contributes around 4-5%.

In China, people don't take time to build cities, and the cities suffer from that sooner or later. Also in general, it is true that "mainstream" is popular in China, but being different means you'll have hard time to deal with people around you and the public.
