请问"go the full nine yards"是什么意思?

是竭尽全力吗?如果说出处,是来自橄榄球比赛吗?但是橄榄球比赛不是要跑够10yard才算first down吗?为什么是go the full NINE yards呢?麻烦哪位高人能给解释一下?谢谢.
