.... we seek the Holy Grail in cameras because we seek the fulfilment of the quest with the resultant pleasure of a deity or king.
Now, me, I wanted Nikon because all the war correspondents had one, I just loved the rugged, masculine, chiselled good looks of the F1 and photo head. However, by the time I actually got one, it was rather sparse and feature-lacking being a machine sculpted for the rustic labourer rather than the romantic.
I rather fell head over heels for the seductive and silky Olympus range of “Rolls Royce” cameras and whilst my romantic lust was sated my shovels proved too delicate to till the dense soil and make arable tillage.
Forlorn and heartbroken I embraced the industrial strength, no compromise world of Nikkor, whose sharpness soon freed the dollars from the wallets and with this newfound wealth a certain charm, admiration and dare I say it, could I love again, but yes I did and an age of satisfaction once more descended.
Soon the tides of change swept the land and price war storm clouds brought thunder with lightening to make us fear and tremble. Intrepid steps into this new age were fraught with awe and expenses so great that what once bought two houses and family holidays now had but a digital box with Nikon emblazed on the side.
But what is this a contender to the thrown, surely not, the “John Deere” now sports a name with C adorning a sensual covetous body and I look at my love but I cannot resist the tug of the sirens and soon under the waves I am swept and I marvel at how I like so much, this strange and unreal new world.
But yes of course a moment doth give pause, I have found myself and whilst I still wish it was with thee, I may never either, go back.
But in answer to your question, think differently, up to very recently this meant Canon!!! But now it might mean Nikon!!!
