以前上学上班都有机会用英语交谈, 现在基本赋闲在家, 特别怕口语退步. 于是用小录音机,每天大声读一篇文章/新闻, 检查更正自己发音的错误和混淆. 发现很有效果, 出去做义工帮人报税时觉得口语并没有退步, 很高兴, 准备坚持下去. 推荐给大家试一试.

I think to get better at speaking English you have to learn to think in English.

Keep practice definitely will improve your spoken English. Reading and listening help you improve your pronunciation. Practicing to express yourself in English will help you improve too. I think a lot of times, the problem with us is don't know how to say something, having an accent isn't really a big deal, unless people have trouble figuring out what words you are saying. [em00]

As a suggestion to this board, maybe we should promote writing in English here. It will help improving your English.

Maybe we can have some kind of activity like having people writing on some topics, composing stories based on pictures, comics, or describing something. Like the way you will be tested in some spoken English tests. You can give everyone who takes part in some credits. It depends on how many people are interested though.

I agree...improving the spoken english is so hard...and thinking in englisher sounds like harder. I always have some problem in accurately pronounce several words....sometimes it is very embarassed to talk not that influently....any good suggestions?
