i can never treat those non-asian ppls as my true brother or sisters except a highschool spanish friend (me & him go away back, friends for life.), if the person is an asian american, i can deal with that w/o a prob. I really dont think you need to find an what you called "AMERICAN", and learn english off from him or her. Asian american can also teach or be a good friend of urs.
my asian american friends, some are 2nd or 3rd generation chinese ABC or korean ABK, are cool, and we used to have our own little hang-out gang. party or study.
i also understand some of the TA or RA may not want to hand-out we undergraduates. since you think there is maybe age difference, but it would really make no difference as long as you are easy to talk to, and to chill with. it will all coming down to that you are asian, and let's party in the asian joint. (You will then be suprise how many pretty asian gals are there in the party, club or just some homemade, and the dating isnt hard at all after all, xixi)
