Spyder Gallery Auto
About the Software
Spyder Gallery Auto is a small software to ease the work of people who try hard to set up the online gallery/album for their tons of digital pictures. With the rising boom of digital cameras and the plummeting price of it, there're more and more geeks and ordinary guys out there who have jumped into this hobby and been desperately eager to share their works with others. The best solution for this task is using some database-driven web application to generate those beautiful pages for you on the fly. You only need to upload your pictures according to certain instructions and the rest work will be done for you on the other side of the wire. Unfortunately, most people don't have their own database supported big-ass servers. And usually, achieving these services from other ISPs requires you to pay a good fortune.
So here I come. Only if you have some personal web space (no any fancy functionalities required), my program will generate your dreaming galleries in a flash. What you need to do is only uploading it to your web space and tell your fellows the address.
A few years ago, I wrote a similar program using MFC. It's a simple one, but works just fine. Now, this lastest version is written with C# with a few more functions added to it. Playing with it is quite easy. Here's a screen shot of it. Please notice that, since the program was developed using C#, the Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 is required on your machine to run this software. Anyway, you can obtain it for free from Microsoft's website.

How to Use It
Before you let it start working, you need to set a few control parameters which is a pretty easy process.
(REQUIRED)Specify your gallery folder's location on your computer.
(REQUIRED)Give this gallery a name. This will show up at the upper part of your gallery index page.
(OPTIONAL)If you have a portal page to which you'd like to allow your visitors to link back from your gallery page, please specify its location here. Remember, this location is the relative location to your gallery folder. For example, if your portal page is one level up relative to your gallery folder, your link might look like "..\default.html". By the way, this page you're looking at right now is just a portal page for my sample galleries. Check it out by yourself.
(OPTIONAL)You can also set your preferred CSS file here. Like the portal page, it also must be a relative location. With the program, there comes a few css files I created which you can use for free. Just copy them to your preferred folder and provide the relative location here. If you leave this option blank, a default CSS file named "DefaultCSS.css" will be copied to your gallery folder for use.
(OPTIONAL)If you enable the paging function of the gallery, (rows X cols) thumbnail images will be shown on each index page. Otherwise, you can only specify the number of columns and all the thumbnails will be shown on one index page.
(OPTIONAL)If a gallery description is provided, it will show up right below the gallery's name.
For your convenience, here's an image explaining most stuff I've mentioned above which is gonna make things clearer.

Sample Galleries
Here're a few sample galleries generated by my program. Each features a different CSS style file. Please check it out and choose your desired one. Of course, if you possess some basic knowledge of CSS format, you can easily modify these CSS files to fit your needs. It's always fun to play with those style tags. :)
