专利本身不需要是ground breaking高精尖技术才能申请，有一点点incremental 提高就好。另外专利也不需要把核心技术全部披露出来，不需要达到让别人一看就知道怎么做的地步。在美国申请几个专利，实在说明不了很多。

我没有具体查，不过有可能这家公司在国外也申请了专利。同样的内容在多个国家都申请，也是很常见也合法的方式。加上国外专利可能会有80多个。

应该是这样，有80多项专利这个应该不是吹的，太容易被揭穿了。但其中有几项真正有价值的就不好说了。

RE军队里的水是很深的，而且几乎是独立运作系统。

越看越觉得这个公司是军方大佬们的马甲，女ceo就是个高级站台的。vc也不傻，这个公司最终拿个contract能挣钱就行。估计也不打算上市，上市马甲就穿不住了

Bloomberg 采访了一个很早就投资了Theranos的大名鼎鼎的DFJ Ventures里的Steve Jurvetson（DFJ的J就是此人），大佬说法挺霸气的，力挺Theranos，当年第一面一见女CEO就深深被其所迷住，那种自信，那种气质，你立马就会想到乔布斯，blabla。然后对于大家质疑的一些问题，大佬说了“We don’t, though, have the answers to the questions that are swirling around right now”。（就是大佬也不知道她家technology是怎么玩的，也不知道到底work不，测量准不准啥的）但是，大佬还说了Tesla当年被质疑的不行的时候，大佬也挺Elon Musk，然后后来打脸很多唱空的人（大佬的意思基本就是，你们等着哦，小心我又打你们脸，呵呵）

1）每周工作七天；
2）严格的Vegan，避免任何动物产品，这样可以让她减少睡眠时间所以她能更好工作（这个有科学根据么？）；
3）整个20-30岁这10年，从来没有take a vacation，没有date！（为啥，她在小小年纪的时候就将自己的人生设计成这样了！）；
4）乔布斯的雄心壮志已经让大家惊叹不已，但是Holmes的雄心更大！就是要disrupte整个diagnostic lab test产业！；
5）经过了10年的隐身发展模式，Holmes觉得再有20年，她们公司就可以在全球范围内产生massive impact了！（Holmes非常自信，因为她说她的整个生命都已经奉献给这个公司了）；
6）Holmes的执着感动了Stanford的大牛Channing Robertson，当了她第一任advisor。。。

后面1/3更有意思，注意这里开始力推其公司业务了Finally, in September 2013, after years of the company's functioning as an outsourced pharma lab, developing dozens of patents, and having never operated a real website or whispered a peep to the press, it was time for Holmes to emerge from stealth mode and show the world what she'd been working on.

快到最后几段时，开始说说争议都有啥，但是这里Holmes对于行业专家要求公开透明的回答很有意思。Holmes is unapologetic about not giving in to the critics. "I admit it's very intentional," she says. "We don't call on our competitors and explain how our technology works."

最后面了，又有很神的一段，感觉必须贴一下For a scientist, Holmes has a notable relationship with her faith, drawing on it when the weeks in the lab are long and the criticism is loud. tesla 现在怎么样？是有段时候老是听媒体唱衰，他们的电池核心问题解决了么？

21日，处于诚信危机的Theranos 女CEO接受WSJ.D Live的采访（背景：此前WSJ约谈她5个半月，一直被她拒绝）。接受了主持人大概40分钟时间的采访。录像+文字记录参考。评论里面继续大量的质疑。
对于WSJ的质疑，Holmes的解释基本一样，他们说的都是错的！怎么能用一个人的测试结果就说我们经过数万次的验证的测试是错的？？？（问题是Holmes拒绝提供对比数据。。。）

对于（1）里提及的到发信问询，Holmes说法是我们根本没收到信啊，我们收到的话，一定会回应的，现在我们知道这件事情了，我们一定会follow up的

对于（3）里提及的Google Ventures的说法，Holmes说实际上我们从来没找过Google Ventures，他们是主动来找我们的，然后我们对他们说的NO！；

对于自杀的生物化学家遗孀，Holmes表示这里说不合适（实际上Theranos的律师是多次威胁要起诉对方，嗯，Theranos的律师们规格很高的，第一任是大名鼎鼎如雷贯耳的David Boies，现任的是Heather King，都是Boies, Schiller & Flexner这家律所的）

个人感觉她在回答问题上基本上是绕开问题，换一个她自己的解释大家说的是错的，经常用analogy，然后实际上啥具体问题也没回答。反倒是对于一些人和事情有了比较bold的回应。

大会结束后，发了那两个重磅文章的WSJ记者John Carreyrou总结了一下Holmes的各种回应。一一对照，非常清楚，强烈推荐，看后很过瘾，写的真不赖。哦，对了哦，这个John Carreyron不是啥无名小辈，实习记者，他是2003，2015两次普利策Pulitzer Prize获得者。普利策奖在新闻界的地位大家都知道哈。

Ms. Holmes confirmed that Theranos was subject to an “unannounced” inspection by the FDA, as the Journal had reported.

Ms. Holmes acknowledged that Theranos had recently made changes to the wording of statements on its website to reflect its reduced finger-prick test offering. The FDA process has “affected the overall offering that we provide and so, on an ongoing basis, as we do this work, we update our language,” she said.

Ms. Holmes also confirmed that Theranos uses an alternative process for proficiency testing, the system that regulators rely on to monitor laboratories’ testing accuracy.

Theranos doesn’t submit test results obtained from its proprietary finger-prick technology during proficiency testing, Ms. Holmes acknowledged.

Ms. Holmes said Theranos had never diluted the small blood samples collected from patients’ fingers in order to run some of its tests on traditional lab instruments. However, former employees say the company did engage in this practice, which they say was meant to increase the samples’ volume so that they would fit the specifications of those traditional machines.

Several doctors have told the Journal they had stopped referring patients to Theranos because they didn’t trust its results.

Representatives of Theranos have said that the company’s lab work is accurate, that it is misleading to draw conclusions from “a handful of patient anecdotes” and that the company has performed tests on millions of patients referred by thousands of doctors and has received highly positive feedback.

最后需要强调的是，没有任何一个人不希望Holmes取得成功，恰恰相反，大家都希望她取得成功，发明新式的检测手段，准确，快速，几乎无痛的只需采取少量血就可以完成诸如 complete blood count (CBC)等测试(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_blood_count)。

微流体学本身就好难的，具体应用起来更难，看来Holmes一定是天才，解决了一些巨大难题。hoho

女CEO不是怕抽血疼才搞这个吗。只有我觉得刺指尖使劲挤更疼么。。。常规抽血不看的话并不吓人也没有很疼啊

据说她中学时期就已经倒卖东西到中国的大学挣钱，从小有经济头脑。但是医疗检测行业在美国是寡头垄断，想挤进去必然会被巨大利益集团排挤。

Vc可不傻，vc很多时候更看重你手中的资源。
