Washington's Top Ten "Must See" Destinations, 你去过几个？

4 — San Juan Islands - Washington州的西北部的San Juan Islands在Vancouver Island的对面，有State Ferry连接。由四个主要的岛屿组成San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw, 据说其美丽程度不在Gulf Island之下。




5 — Mount St. Helens - May 18, 1980美丽沉静的Henlens爆发了。。。去年又发了一次脾气，北面还是郁郁葱葱，南面却是伤痕累累。






6 — Grand Coulee Dam - 世界上的第三大水库，美国最大的水泥建筑，在哪里？Central Columbia River.




7 — Lake Chelan - 湖水是美丽的，山峰是俊秀的，公路不是非常容易开到的。。。位于连接North Cascades National Park的Lake Chelan National Recreation Area.




8 — Columbia River Gorge - 这条河是Washington和Oregon的分界线，沿线很多吸引人的风景，瀑布，河流，群山；不光有历史遗迹，还是摄影师的天堂。




9 — Snoqualmie Falls - Seattle附近最有吸引力的自然风光景点，因为离Seattle距离很短，大约30mile，每年有超过100万人参观。声势巨大，值得见识一次。



10 — Ferry ride on the Puget Sound - 从20路的终点到Port Townsend的State Ferry会穿越Puget Sound，从船上可以一次看到Mt. Rainier, Mt. Baker, the Olympics and the Cascades的美丽风景。晚上坐船的话，还有可能看到Seattle的夜景呢。

1 — Mount Rainier
The best time to goes is August when wild flowers are blooming like fire. If you plan to visit on an August weekend and camp there, make your camp site reservation as early as you possibly can. Many people from Puget sound area often play hookey on weekdays to go to avoid the crownd and parking hassle (myself included).

2 — Olympic National Park
Unfortunately you have to do some serious packbackings to really enjoy the park. Save it till you have done other easier places.

5 — Mount St. Helens
The impact of the eruption faded each year, so plan to go as early as you posssibly can.

6 — Grand Coulee Dam
It is OK but not worth a dedicated trip. Visit it only if you pass it by on another more interesting trip.

7 — Lake Chelan
Too much time and money to go ther. You are much better off to go to North Cascades on Highway 20 which is a perfect summer weekend trip from Vancouver.

8 — Columbia River Gorge
Most people do it as a loop from Portlan which also includes Mt. Hood.

This top ten list loses its credibility by omitting Mt. Baker which is a must for all outdoor enthusiats from Vancouver.
