Got my 2nd offer

Just got a call from the hiring manager. They have just one round interview and I passed it. Now having a headache to make a decision. Below is a list of the advantages and disadvantages of the two companies. Any suggestion is welcome.

Company 1. Huge (2nd largest global) biotech company in LA metro. Stable.
Role: statistical programmer (which I like less)
Excellent benefit.
Supervisor: an indian guy. Don't know if he's easy to get along with or not.
Co-workers all very nice.

Company 2. Tiny financial analysis company in Austin, TX, my dreamed city.
Life is much less expensive in Austin than in LA.
The company is too small and unstable.
Role: financial analyst (I like this more).
Benefit to be negotiated.
Supervisor: a Chinese lady, very nice, human, and thoughtful.
Co-workers very nice also.

Basically, the 2nd company has a lot pluses but the only disadvantage is that it's too small, very very risky and unstable. I like the city, the role and the people over there, but not sure if it worths to take the risk.

Thanks for any advices.

选相对工资水平高的，我觉得两个职位的工作几乎没什么区别，只是在不同的行业而已。
不要被financial这个幌子骗了，其实还是做编程，最多再来点excel，powerpoint。
最好真正的了解以下以后的日常工作是什么。
从学习的角度来说两个职位等价。
公司声望第一个好。
工资应该也是第一个高。
地理位置也是第一个好，可是你觉得第二个好。
工作稳定性第一个好。
工作强度第一个低。
所以我会选第一个，不过可能第二个马上能办绿卡，第一个不办。

Depend on what you want to pursue for your career. Big biotech as that will be very stable and kind of boring in the long run. You can consider retirement from the beginning.

If your first company is the one I know, which is located in TO, I would recomand you go there. I have been working there for 6 months and relocated because of personal reason. But I think that is a good place for a fresh grad. Stable is good for GC.

Do you mean it's possible to relocate to another city or state while still working for the same company? If yes, I'll go over there without hesitation.

TO is beautiful, but far more expensive than anywhere else.

It is possible if you want to be a contractor and find a staffing company sponser your H1 and GC.

其实我觉得华人还是在DALLAS可能更方便一些。AUSTIN是个美丽的地方，不过我想在那里生活可能并不方便，对华人来说。除非MM已经跟ABC差不多了。当然，加洲比德洲更好。

By the way, what's your major? Computer Science? What does a statistical programmer mean?

I've got dual major in statistics and computer science. The role is about SAS programming and statistical analysis.

Is it appropriate for an entry level fresh graduate to ask about GC? Still got 3 onsites coming up and I may wanna ask for the GC issue if got a chance.

Monster, amstat.org and sas-jobs.com. Got one interview out of a couple applications on sas-jobs. The company is still following with me. There're not a lot of posting on amstat but those are all real jobs, I think. Got one interview out of several applications and won the offer. All other interviews are from monster.

Simply posting your resume is not enough. You gotta apply for jobs.

AMGEN, TO 什么时候变2ND GLOBAL LARGE BIOTECH了？不是第一吗？第二是Genetech,SF 吧？

如果你有绿卡，去小公司...more fun；
如果没有，去大公司...more stability

TO也有缺点，离机场和MP都要1个多小时。bar还看到过，night club就不多见了，不过还是比我现在待的地方强，已经后悔了。sign...

谢谢MM的回答.我其实也申请了一些职位,但都杳无音信,我现在怀疑是我的简历有问题.另外我也是AMSTAT的学生MEMBER,倒是没想到在上面找工作.SAS-JOBS是个挺好的网站,我也给忘了.唉...整天瞎忙,都没忙到点子上.

另外能不能再请MM讲讲面试的事,他们都问你什么样的问题呀?专业问题多吗?难不难?要不要做PRESENTATION什么的?
